I came across this photo of Castro eating an ice cream cone while riding the Bronx Zoo train in 1959. It’s included in the book 1959: The Year Everything Changed by Fred Kaplan. The L.A. Times ran a review of the book with this accompanying photo. It’s too good to resist.
